Perched on a hill, and locally called "the town", St Anne is the only village on the island of Alderney. Its cobbled streets squeeze between fine granite residences decorated with flowers and hanging baskets, and are strikingly reminiscent of villages on the nearby Cotentin Peninsula. Victoria Street is the main drag, with most of the shops and pubs, and the cinema, the town's principal entertainment. The Alderney Museum is dedicated to local history.
