Newnham College

By tradition, Newnham has always been at the forefront of women's movement while at the same time retaining its reputation for academic excellence. It was founded in 1871 by moralist Henry Sidgwick, a believer in women's entitlement to higher education. The Dutch red-brick gables and white woodwork of this fine Queen Anne-style building stand out against the backdrop of its gardens.
