St Mary's Church
Founded c 1120, this architectural gem is famed for its carved pillars. The Perpendicular-style main façade of St Mary's, decorated with slender shafts and fine mouldings, resembles that of King's College Chapel in Cambridge. A tower was added in 1524. The extraordinary chancel ceiling, painted in 1445, is an inventory of the kings of England.
