Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King

Recommended
The construction of the cathedral (1933-67) was stalled by the Second World War and changes of architect. The circular concrete building, the lantern tower of which reaches 85m, places the main altar in the centre of the structure. In the crypt, the huge brick vaults by Lutyens divide the space. There is an area used for concerts and a museum, including the Chapel of Relics, the door to which is a 6t engraved marble disc that is rolled back.
