Corbridge Roman Site and Museum
"Corstopitum" was the site occupied for longer than any other along Hadrian's Wall. The museum presents the layout of the site with its granaries, fountain, main headquarters and temples, as well as exhibits of pottery and jewellery. Altars, dedicatory inscriptions and statues can be seen by the walls. Outside, the foundations and the function of various excavated buildings bear witness to the rigorous nature of the military camp's organisational structure, similar to that of a traditional Roman town.
