This small local museum has an excellent section on theColdstream Guards regiment, founded in 1650. The uniforms, medals, flags and buttons, plus Jacob the Goose, the only bird with a grade in the British army, relate the history and traditions of this regiment. The military corps was once part of Cromwell's model army which explains why there is no crown on the buttons of the men's tunics.
