Hadrian's Wall

Recommended
The wall, built from 122 AD on the orders of the Roman Emperor Hadrian, stretches for 117km from Wallsend on the Tyne to Bowness-on-Solway. Parts of the wall can still be seen today and it is studded with museums, camps and settlements, which give a picture of military and civil life on Rome's Northwest Frontier.
