Dunfermline
The Essential
Interesting
Dunfermline was once the capital of Scotland. The city was for a long time a prosperous industrial centre, mainly due to coal mining and linen weaving. The town centre, whose skyline bristles with steeples, stands on top of a hill and is laid out around a great abbey and grounds. The streets lined with handsome granite abodes are only a few minutes from the delightful coastal villages of West Fife.
