The Essential
This attractive village was built in the 18C on a grid pattern, whereby its main streets converge towards a central square. The streets are lined with Georgian houses, while the square is dominated by a parish church, which sports an elegant portico and stone spire. The original village, called Bog o'Gight, stood on the Gordon Castle estate and was razed by the 4th Duke to build a manor house, also partially destroyed at a later date.
