Stirling Castle

Recommended
Given itssituation on a steep rock overlooking the plains of the Forth, Stirling Castle was one of the most powerful and invincible castles in Scotland. A masterpiece of Renaissance decoration, Stirling, like the royal residences of Falkland and Linlithgow, is an example of continental Renaissance influence. With the accession of the Stuarts and the departure of James VI for London, the castle was a permanent royal residence.
