Overlooking the Menai Straits, the small town of Caernarfon is known for its fine complex of fortifications and its castle, situated at the furthest point of English incursion into Welsh territory in the 13C. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, this strategically situated fortress is still the traditional setting for the investiture of Princes of Wales. There are expansive views from the top of its ramparts over the Isle of Anglesey and hills of Snowdonia.
