This village nestles between the impressive plateau of Garron to the south and Lurig to the north, at the mouth of the River Glenariff, on a headland, nicknamed the "Queen of the Glens" of Antrim. The steeply sloped green pastureland and peacefully grazing cattle is strangely reminiscent of the Alps, hence its sobriquet "Little Switzerland". Quiet for most of the year, the village comes to life during the Celtic games, Feis na nGleann in late June-early July.
