North Down

Bangor

Bangor
The Essential
The town was founded by Scottish settlers in the 17C, who developed its port and textile industry. While relatively lacking in historic interest, it is nonetheless a very pleasant seaside resort with a marina, Ballyholme sandy beach and graceful Victorian houses that adorn the hillsides overlooking the sea. The town has no end of friendly pubs and delightful B&Bs which make it the perfect base camp for forays into the Ards Peninsula.
