As if by a miracle, Nigde has hardly any tourists! Here, visitors are able to enjoy a truly Anatolian vision of Cappadocia, with its pleasant fields of food crops. Discreetly hidden behind rows of poplar trees, this charming town is, along with Kayseri, one of the main centres for Seljuk mausoleums in Turkey. The town grew up around an 11C citadel and is also home to numerous old houses built in traditional style. Don't miss the nearby Monastery of Eski Gümüs in the area.
