Maligne Lake

Highly recommended
In 1875, surveyor Henry MacLeod was the first European to set eyes on this lake which the indigenous people here referred to as "Chaba Imne" (Beaver Lake). The lake and the surrounding peaks were initially explored in detail in 1908 as part of an expedition led by Mary Schaffer, a widow from Philadelphia who spent her summers in the Rockies. This glacier lake, 23km/14mi-long, is the largest and most famous lake in the Rockies. A boat trip on the lake is a must.
