Orpheum Theatre

Interesting
Opened in 1927, the 2,800-seat hall was once the largest theatre in Canada. Interior arches, columns and mouldings of travertine, marble, stone and plaster were designed in Spanish Baroque style by architect Marcus Priteca. Converted to a movie theatre, it was scheduled to be divided up until community pressure spurred the city to buy it and renovate it for use by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
