Known as the "beloved island" of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the appeal of this summer resort lies in its sandy beaches and picturesque coves as well as the souvenir of America's famous president. In 1964 the Canadian and American governments jointly established the park to commemorate him, laying out countless hiking trails against a backdrop of superb landscapes.
