Facing Ottawa (a province of Ontario) from which it is separated by the wide Ottawa River, Gatineau is in the province of Quebec. The town is proud of its fine 19C timber-framed labourer's houses down Rue Jacques Cartier, which are unique in New England. The Hull district is home to the extremely popular Canadian Museum of History. Finally, the Aylmer district is home to the region's largest concentration of 19C houses and churches.
