Lac Saint-Jean

Located to the north of Quebec City, at the southern tip of the Saguenay region, the great expanse of water that makes up Lake Saint-Jean (1 100km²/683sq mi) forms what looks like an inland sea. Lined by sandy beaches and surrounded by green countryside, it is popular for swimming and sunbathing. Route 169 tours the lake (3 days by car), with villages on the north bank quieter than those to the south. Those with more energy can visit the lake by bicycle!
