Museum of Tolerance

Recommended
Dedicated in 1993, this museum of ideas has two principal goals: raising awareness of racism and prejudice in American life, and exploring atrocities against humanity throughout history, with primary emphasis on the Holocaust.More a high-technology multimedia journey than a traditional museum experience, the visit begins with descent through the eight-level structure's domed atrium to the self-guided Tolerance Section, a series of interactive exhibits designed to provoke a powerful emotional response. Highlighting this area is the Point of View Diner, which offers a 14min program testing participants' reactions to televised case studies. Visitors then enter a stylized walk-through presentation of the events of the Holocaust (1hr). The second-floor Multimedia Learning Center offers access to a vast wealth of historical data on the Holocaust and World War II through 30 computer workstations. The Archival Collections feature concentration camp artifacts and some 10,000 documents, including original letters of Anne Frank.
