Golden Gate Bridge

Highly recommended
Golden Gate Bridge is the iconic symbol of San Francisco and its epic proportions, which seem to effortlessly span the Detroit that separates it from Marin Country, are best appreciated close up. The best views are from the foot of the cliffs, on the ocean side, or on Vista Point on the other side of the bridge; alternatively hop on one of the boat cruises that tour the bay. However, a walk across the bridge (take warm clothes and a windbreaker) commands the most spectacular views.

Useful information

Address:

Lincoln Blvd. And US-101, 94129 San Francisco

Opening hours

[Served by Muni bus 29 and Golden Gate bus 10 (Northbound; several stops downtown including 7th St. and Market St.). You may also cross the bridge on foot or bicycle (sidewalk open daily 5am-9pm) and continue to Sausalito, 5 km away; since the way down to the village is of little interest, you may also take the bus once you have crossed the bridge. Check buses schedules.]
