Discovery Science Center
This interactive museum (1998) may be immediately spotted from the freeway: a 10-story tilted cube, balancing on one point, sits adjacent to the 59,000sq-ft complex, designed by the world-famous Arquitectonica firm. Eight exhibit areas focus on human perception and performance, earth geology, space exploration and more. Visitors can actually lie unhurt on a bed of nails or experience a simulated major earthquake. The center features a 3-D laser theater and live weekend science show, and houses a 20-terminal computer room and educational gift shop.
