US Mint

Interesting
This mint, one of four in the country, houses one-fourth of America's gold reserves, which were transferred to Denver from San Francisco in 1934 because of the latter city's vulnerability to earthquakes. The elegant, five-story, granite-and-marble building (1906, James Knox Taylor) is neo-Florentine in style. Displays of coins and currency, mint equipment and historic photos line visitors' galleries. Tours (reservation required) offer views of the stamping and counting rooms.
