When to go
Copy the migratory birds and fly down to Miami for the winter, forsaking the cold and the rain for sandy, sunkissed beaches. You won’t of course be alone because many Americans and foreign tourists also do likewise.
During this season, the city is the venue of numerous events. In December, contemporary art takes over Art Basel and its 250 international galleries, while in March a totally different fever grips the streets of Little Havana during the Calle Ocho Festival. Unfortunately, the prices also undergo a feverish rise.
The dry winter season ends in April. From then on, the humidity and temperatures rise to become almost unbearable in the summer, although dips in the Ocean bring temporary relief.
Prices drop as the hurricane season approaches. Up until July, prudence is recommended and it is not rare for the city to be swept by extremely violent tropical winds.
