Episcopal Cathedral of St James

Interesting
From the outside, the Episcopal St James Cathedral appears typical of the Chicago churches built of local limestone around the time of the Great Fire. All that remains of the original structure are the 1867 bell tower, still bearing char marks, and the Civil War Memorial in the narthex, which served as a temporary altar until the church could be rebuilt in 1875. The Arts and Crafts-inspired interior of the church is breathtaking.
