Acadian Cultural Center
This well-conceived visitor center operated by the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve is an excellent place to begin forays into the Cajun Country. A series of displays focuses on various aspects of Cajun life in Louisiana, highlighting the ways in which Acadian traditions and methods—farming and building techniques, clothing, language, crafts, music—were adapted to conditions in the new land. A 40min video presentation dramatizes the Acadian expulsion from Nova Scotia.
