Dearborn
The Essential
Recommended
It was in this suburb of Detroit that the industrialist Henry Ford had his home built, and where he set up his headquarters and established the main assembly plants of the Ford Motor Company, which was to irrigate the region's economy. Most Ford workers and managers live in Dearborn, which became part of the Detroit metropolitan area in 1927. A land of asylum for the campuses of the University of Michigan, the industrial city also has one of America's largest Arab populations.
