Oregon
The Essential
Fans of wide open spaces, culture and good food will fall in love with Oregon by the Pacific Ocean.
Along its unspoiled coastline, you will admire cliffs, observe whales and go for long walks along beaches battered by gigantic rolling waves or in the endless dunes of Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Inland, lovely Willamette Valley is the site of the Crater Lake National Park and its famous sapphire-colored lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. To the east, wooded mountains, deep canyons, badlands and high-altitude arid plains paint a wholly different picture.
Oregon is also a state with a distinctive cultural identity. Food trucks, which have popped up on every street corner, have become emblematic of Portland, the hip, foody capital of America, offering a splendid chance to sample a Creole or Cajun dish before heading out to a party or a cultural festival!
