Lady Elliot Island

Recommended
Also accessible from Bundaberg or Brisbane, the southernmost coral cay of the Great Barrier Reef barely covers 40ha, but it's a paradise for free diving and scuba diving. In addition to the plethora of tropical fish, turtles and a host of manta rays frequent its coral reef. Back on land, you can observe terns, cormorants and frigate birds, see turtles lay their eggs (Nov-Dec) or the birth of their young (Jan-Mar).
